Samuel Lee Thomas Sr., 62, of Crawfordsville, passed away 2:25 PM Monday February 5, 2018 at Parkview Health Care in Attica IN. He was born March 20, 1955 in Crawfordsville, IN the son of Donald Lee and Mildred L (Gooding) Thomas. His father Don has preceded him in death. Surviving family include his mother Mildred L Thomas, a son Samuel Lee (Jennifer) Thomas Jr., Mooresville, IN; a daughter, Annie (Jeff) Staggs, Veedersburg, IN; two sisters, Carol York (Phil Hester), Hillsboro, IN; Donna Thomas, Danville, IL; four grandchildren, Andrew & Madi Golia; Sarah & Nathan Thomas; and several nieces and nephews. Sam graduated from Fountain Central High School in 1973 where he was active in FFA. While growing up he had worked with his family in their cemetery business. He had been employed for many years as a welder at WRIB in Veedersburg, and at his own welding shop at Steam Corner. For many years he enjoyed riding and working on his Harley’s. He was a previous member of ABATE. While living in Crawfordsville, where he became known as the bicycle man, he spent many hours at the Public Library researching and studying history. He also enjoyed spending Wednesday evenings at the Trinity Mission discussing his faith in God. He enjoyed his many friends and large family, and he was always eager to share a gift with his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral service is 2:00 PM Friday February 9, 2018 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Pastor Greg McDonald officiating.
