Sandra L Henderson

April 20, 1944 — February 2, 2025

Veedersburg, IN

Sandy was someone who never sat idle. As a young mom and farm wife, she might bale hay, help her kids with school projects, cook an amazing meal, and crochet a blanket, all on the same day. She was an accomplished horsewoman who boarded and trained horses and gave riding lessons. A competitive Western rider, she won many trophies, particularly with her favorite horse, Sunshine.

Sandy had an artistic eye and appreciated beauty. She was a crafty person who taught ceramics painting to area neighbors for several years. She seemed always to be sewing, knitting, or painting something, and she liked to make her home attractive and welcoming.

On September 1, 1996, Sandy married Gerry Henderson at an outdoor ceremony in Perrysville, Indiana. Sandy and Gerry had many wonderful adventures in their 28 ½ years together. They enjoyed traveling, having new experiences and trying new foods. They especially liked hopping on their Harley Davidson and riding across the U.S. Some of their favorite motorcycle trips were to New England and Milwaukee, and they always brought little gifts back from these journeys. When Sandy’s health began to fail, Gerry was her caregiver and primary cheerleader. He and her daughter Tami Czajka made sure her homebound years were still fun and love-filled.

Sandy is greatly missed by her beloved husband Gerry, her daughters Jeannie (Marcus Ricci) Ludlow and Tami (Ray) Czajka, grandchildren Zachary Daniel, Cassandra (Tyler) Ratcliff, Dalton (Janie) Czajka, great-grandchildren Airazona Ratcliff, Reagan Ratcliff, Paisley Czajka, and Alaina Czajka, and her best friend Cathy “Cat” Wadsworth. She is also survived by her sister Helen Jumps, her brothers Carl (Leah) Minick and William (Connie) Minick, and her stepchildren Gerry Henderson, Jr., Samuel (Bonita) Henderson, and Connie (Oren) Montgomery and their families, as well as many nieces and nephews. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents Angus and Jenny, her brothers Harold (Sherrill) Minick, Gerald (Jean) Minick, and Richard “Dick” Minick and many beloved extended family members.

Sandy’s family would like to thank the hospice and nursing home professionals who filled her final days with gentle care.
