On February 27, 2021 at 3:30 AM, Timothy L. Spicer, aka Timmy or Big Tim, passed away peacefully and comfortably in his chair in his home. He was carried by angels to Heaven to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
He is preceded in death by his father, David L. Spicer, mother Edna G. Howard Spicer, and still born sister Kathryn Spicer.
He is survived by wife LaDonna Howard, children Levi (Ashley Allen), Shea (Travis Rice), Reuben (Whitney Allen), grandchildren Josiah, Constance, Silas, Titus, Elam and Anna.
Tim wore so many hats, literally and figuratively. He was a husband, father, grandfather, mentor, listener, bus driver, football and baseball coach, tractor puller, blue grass singer, farmer, 4-H leader, missionary, dreamer and eternal optimist.
At the time of his death, he was a trustee, member, youth leader and head cook at the Covington Church of the Nazarene.
His ministry journey of 39 years began in 1982 at Southside Church of the Nazarene and included stops along the way at Stringtown Church of God, Covington First Baptist and concluded at the Covington Church of the Nazarene.
He had a way of making everyone feel like they were the most important and only person in the world. His hugs were magical and would melt any worry or anxiety, with a reassuring and unwavering trust that “God’s got this”.
In lieu of a funeral, flowers or cards, his last wish was to have an old fashioned “shindig” and celebrate his life. Donations can be made to the Covington Church of the Nazarene in his honor.
The last thing that he wanted to say to all is...
1. Love and hug your family.
2. Stay committed to your local church body.
3. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
