Van E Stevenson

Van Edward Stevenson, 76, from Veedersburg, IN.  Born June 16, 1944 in Kankakee, IL to James and Erma (Blythe) Stevenson, his dad was a student at Olivet Nazarene College. 

Van died January 17, 2021 at Franciscan Health in Lafayette, IN. His wife and daughter were with him.  His parents, his brother Jerry, lots of his aunts and uncles, and 3 first cousins all died before him.  Van married Rayna Thompson on November 14, 1981, in Georgetown, IL.  They have one daughter Rachel (Quinn) Miller from Hillsboro, IN. He has  two grandsons Keagin, age 14, and Eli, age 11, one granddaughter Tiffany, age 12.  Two sisters Bev (James) Green from Georgetown, IL, Debbie Stevenson from Bloomington, IL.  Three nephews Todd (Angela) Green Georgetown, IL, Michael (Nicole) Green from LeRoy, IL, Chad (Jamie) Green from Graham, WA.  He has one Aunt Ilene (Claude) Robertson from Georgetown, IL.

He was raised in Georgetown, IL.

Van enjoyed going out to eat or for coffee with all his friends.  He loved riding his Goldwing motor cycle.  He was proud of his military service in the Navy. He served on the USS Hancock during the Vietnam War. He was a life member of the VFW Post 3510 in Danville, IL. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 288 in Veedersburg, IN. Van retired in 2001 from Heatcraft (Bohn) in Danville, IL.          

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Friday January 22, 2021 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg, Indiana with Pastor Tom Hunter officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 Noon on Friday at the funeral home and continue until the time of service. Everyone attending the services are asked to wear face mask. Military Honors will be provided at the funeral home by the US Navy and American Legion Post #288. Burial will take place at a later date at the Danville National Cemetery.
