William Jackson “Bill” Burkholder, 87, of Veedersburg, passed away 11:50 PM Thursday January 11, 2018 at IU Health in Lafayette, Indiana. Bill was born March 24, 1930 the son of Benjamin Franklin and Beulah Fern Burkholder. He married Eleanor June Rogers February 27, 1955 in Covington, IN; she preceded him in death May 5, 2011. He is also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Malacina, and two brothers, Ted and Jay Burkholder. Surviving family include two daughters, Marsha (Jerry) Scott, Portland Arch, IN; Teresa Burkholder, Crawfordsville, IN; two sisters, Deb Doppler, Cedar Lake, IN; Patty Johnson, IN; two brothers, Wayne (Sandy) Burkholder, FL; Jack (Pat) Burkholder, Gary IN; three grandchildren, Matthew Sundt, Michael Sundt, Amanda (Rob) Dawson; three great-grandchildren, Payton Sundt, Hadlee McBride, and Halen McBride. Bill graduated from Attica High School in 1949 and served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked as an International Harvester parts manager for over 50 years being employed during that time by Bilsland Implement, Gillilands Implement, and Birkey’s Implement. He was a member of the Sterling Christian Church. Earlier in his life he had enjoyed camping and horseback riding, he also enjoyed woodworking in his shop. More recently he had enjoyed visiting with his friends at The Breakfast Club and also the KIT (Keeping In Touch) Club at Sterling Christian Church. He had lived in rural Covington for most of his life and had moved into Veedersburg a few years ago. Funeral service will be 12:00 Noon Monday January 15, 2018 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Pastor Gary Johnson officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM Monday and continue until the time of service. Burial will follow at Coal Creek Cemetery at Union Christian Church, with military honors provided by American Legion Post #288.
