William H “Bill” Grubb, 101, passed away 12:58 PM Friday October 20, 2023, on the farm outside of Covington, IN, where he had spent nearly all his life.
Bill was born in rural Covington March 23, 1922 the only child of William L and Ruby E (Newburn) Grubb. He married L. Bernice Davis April 18, 1943 in Covington, IN; she preceded him in death April 12, 2021.
He is also preceded in death by a son, Harold Grubb.
His surviving family include two daughters, Marilyn (Ross) Hankins; Jean (Dave) Allen; a son F. Dale (Phyllis) Grubb, all of Covington; eight grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Bill graduated from Covington High School in 1940. He was a long-time and oldest living member of First Baptist Church in Covington, where he served many years as a trustee; recently he had been attending Cates Community Church. He was also a member of the Covington Library Board for over 20 years.
Bill was a life-long farmer and was proud of the herd of Angus Beef Cattle he maintained for many years at 100 head. He also raised sheep, pigs, and dairy cattle; along with grain farming. He enjoyed hunting for arrowheads on the farm, he also enjoyed fishing and running trot lines on the Wabash river in his earlier years. In more recent years Bill found great enjoyment in patrolling his two farm ponds in his golf cart, although he actually enjoyed patrolling his entire farm and neighborhood in his golf cart.
Graveside service will be 11:00 AM Thursday October 26, 2023 at Mt Hope Cemetery with Pastor Dusty Woodrow officiating. Memorial Contributions may be given to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Online condolences at www.dickersonfuneralhome.com.
