Barbara Ann Nelson

Barbara Ann (Allen) “Barbie” Nelson, 46, of rural Veedersburg, won her battle with colon cancer at 7:56 AM on Saturday February 25, 2023.

Barbie was born December 10, 1976 in Danville, Illinois the daughter of Rex and Jeanetta Allen. She married Brad Nelson May 3, 1997.

Along with her husband and parents her surviving family include three sons; Riley (19), Colt (13), and Grant (11), all of Veedersburg; a sister, Becky (Graham) Jessiman, Fishers; father and mother-in-law, Mike & Ann Nelson, Hillsboro; two sisters-in-law, Kristi (Steve) Jackson, Veedersburg;  Tricia Nelson, Hillsboro; and a brother-in-law, Brent (Miranda) Nelson, Attica.

Barbie graduated from Fountain Central High School in 1995, and started her workforce career that included Fountain Trust Company in Covington, Culver Union Hospital in Crawfordsville, and Kaw Valley State Bank in Topeka, KS. The past 14 ½ years she worked as a Senior Pharmacy Tech for Walgreens in Crawfordsville, and Illiana Veterans Hospital in Danville, Illinois.

Barbie was an active member of the Sterling Christian Church. She loved God, family, and working, “usually” in that order. Barbie’s faith in God is what truly kept her family together. She enjoyed watching the boys play sports and other activities over the years. She loved to relax with a good book, and had been known to crochet a blanket or two.

Memorial service will be 7:00 PM Tuesday February 28, 2023 with Pastor Gary Johnson officiating at Sterling Christian Church 701 South Sterling Avenue Veedersburg IN. Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM Tuesday at the church and continue until the time of service.
